Announcements: 

Our next INSPIRE Life-Skills Workshop for Teens and young adults will be Mastering Communication & Connection. Learn the art of effective communication, honing essential interviewing skills, building strong relationships, and mastering conflict resolution techniques. These workshops are held every 4th Sunday at 5 pm and are now open to teens 13-18 and young adults 18-23! Register at CSLOLYMPIA.ORG under Youth & Family and Life-Skills Workshops. $20 or pay what you can. Snacks are provided, and drop-ins are welcome. For questions, contact Adrienne or Ocean in our youth department.

Curriculum Overview:

Youth explore the concept of being “Fired Up!” which entails being passionate and ready to take on challenges. Through activities like sharing their passions, discussing examples of enthusiasm, and visualizing their inner flame, they’ll learn to nurture their excitement and cultivate a sense of purpose in their lives.

Week 2 Value: Fired Up!  
Affirmation: I am fired up and ready to live life fully.

Spiritual Lesson: 

This week’s lesson ignites the flame of passion within, guiding youth to embrace the exhilarating power of being “Fired Up!” Through reflection and exploration, they’ll discover how to fuel their inner fire, tap into their divine connection, and boldly pursue their dreams with unwavering confidence and enthusiasm.

Meditation Practice: Fired Up! Meditation

Youth are guided on a journey to envision a radiant flame flickering at their core, representing their inner passion and strength. Through visualization and reflection, they awaken to the power within, igniting a sense of purpose and confidence to pursue their dreams with unwavering enthusiasm.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do by Ashley Spires. It follows the journey of Lou, a brave adventurer who confronts her fear of climbing trees, inspiring children to embrace challenges with determination and resilience. – ages 4-7

Book: Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. This charming and poignant book follows the story of a wise old oak tree named Red, which serves as a community gathering place and a source of hope and wisdom. – ages 8-12

Music: “Never Giving Up” by Fearless Soul

Music: “Rise Up” by Andra Day

Creative Expression: Flame Art Collage and Inner Flame Journaling  

Both age groups will engage in activities centered around igniting their inner flame. Younger children will create vibrant flame collages to express their passions, while older children will embark on reflective journaling journeys, using flame cut-outs as symbols of their inner fire and determination. Through creative expression and introspection, both groups will explore the themes of passion, enthusiasm, and inner strength in an interactive and age-appropriate manner.

Connecting: Fire in the Belly Circle

During the Fire in the Belly Affirmation Circle, youth will engage in a supportive and empowering exchange, sharing their passions and goals while receiving encouragement and affirmation from their peers. Through this interactive activity, they will cultivate a sense of community, bolster their determination, and reaffirm their commitment to pursuing their dreams with enthusiasm and resilience.
