Week 4 Value: Seeing and Being Seen

Affirmation: I allow myself to see and be seen.

Spiritual Lesson: Seeing and Being Seen

Youth explore how to belong to a healthy community by being authentically true to who they are and allowing others the space to do the same.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Meditation listening: 6 min of Courage, Confidence & Positive Energy (6:00)

Short Animation: The Power of Teamwork(2:11)

Book: The Dandelion Seed by Joseph Anthony (3:24)

Creative Expression –  Courageous Storytelling

We will create a hero’s story together in dyads. We start a story, stop to ask questions along the way and have youth fill in the blanks as often as possible, with names of characters and decisions about what to do next. Our characters will meet challenges where they may need different qualities such as confidence, bravery, patience, curiosity, etc. Each group will be able to tell their story and act it out.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Playing with Common Ground

With an expanded view of ourselves and others, youth play a teamwork game where they can define teamwork guidelines before the game and reflect on success with and without finding common ground.
