Curriculum Overview:

This week, CSL Youth explore how being open, honest, and kind—even when it’s hard—helps us grow strong relationships and inner peace. We’ll share stories, practice mindfulness, and get our hands in the garden as we learn about the healing power of truth, love, and seeing the divine in each other.

June Monthly Theme: Celebrating Our Oneness: Honoring Unity, Diversity, and Loving Expression

Week 4 Value:  And We’re Still Together

Affirmation: “It’s never too late to live my authentic life, and it’s never too soon to take the first step!”

Spiritual Lesson:

This week, youth explore the spiritual power of vulnerability—sharing truth with compassion, setting healthy boundaries, and recognizing the divine in others. Through story, reflection, movement, and garden connection, they’ll learn how honesty and open hearts can deepen love and strengthen relationships.

Mindfulness: Centering in Connection (near the strawbale garden)

Youth imagine a soft glowing light in their heart that grows warmer with every breath, connecting them to themselves, to others, and to the earth below. Our Focus: “Even when we’re different, we can still be together in love.”

Repeat affirmation: “I embrace the power of vulnerability and connection.”

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book:  “Each Kindness” by Jacqueline Woodson
  • Music “Love My Neighbor” by Alphabet Rockers
  • Book: “The Rabbit Listened” by Cori Doerrfeld (younger class)
  • Music: “Brave” by Sara Bareilles (younger class)

Creative Expression: “Brave Boundaries – Truth Rocks”

Youth write one truth they are proud of sharing or a boundary they’re learning to set. We invite sharing, closing with a breath and the reminder: “It’s brave to speak your truth and care for your heart.”

Lessons in Action: “Unity Garden Planting Party”

Youth take turns planting veggie starts in the strawbale garden and they are invited to say something kind about themselves or someone else. As we water the plants we close with a ritual saying: We all grow differently, but together we make something beautiful.”

Connecting: Try On Our Best Selves

Youth are invited to design and try on their bravest best selves in preparation for out 5th Sunday Youth/Adult Service where we invite everyone to show up in something they dare to dream themselves into being. We will have conversations as our ultimate selves, interacting “as if” we are living out our dream selves.
