Youth Curriculum, 3-3-24

Curriculum Overview:

Youth discover an appreciation of embracing each new day as a fresh start filled with infinite possibilities and that they are not defined by their past or by others. Instead, they get to define themselves by what is possible for them based on their unique expression of love.

Spiritual Lesson: Embracing Infinite Possibility

Youth discover an appreciation of embracing each new day as a fresh start filled with infinite possibilities and discover feeling empowered to define their own potential. They learn that stating their intention each morning in the form of a greeting or affirmation can have a positive influence on how they progress confidently toward their goals.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: The Most Magnificent Thing, by Ashley Spires  

Video: The Science of Happiness – An Experiment in Gratitude – SoulPancake (7:13) – older youth

Video: The Power of Words by The Museum Channel on YouTube (8:00) – teens

Creative Expression: Collaborative Blindfolded Drawing

Youth pairs take turns creating drawings under time constraints, learning to adapt and trust in each other’s contributions. They embrace creativity and teamwork, discovering that others’ input can enhance their original ideas, fostering a collaborative spirit and creative synergy.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Embracing Possibility  

The youth will divide into pairs and practice different morning greetings, such as “Good morning! The rest of my life’s going to start today!” They will be encouraged to choose a greeting that resonates with them and commit to using it each morning for the next week.
