Youth Curriculum, 10-15-23

Today is Youth & Family Day at the Pumpkin Patch! Wear your favorite costume or farm attire, and get ready for some fun! See you at the Hunters Family Farm ticket booth at 1 p.m.!

Curriculum Overview

Youth have fun getting comfortable with their vulnerabilities. Using curiosity, they learn about the Double Split Experiment from Dr. Quantum, learn to draw an optical illusion picture, and use costumes and props, create a character based on their unique gifts and qualities to put on a show with their friends.

2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
October Monthly Theme: Playing with Paradox
Week 3 Value: Shaking Up Our Worldview

Affirmation: Being Curious is my Superpower

Spiritual Lesson: Shaking Up Our Worldview

We can unlearn that knowing and being right is more important than being vulnerable and, instead, use our curiosity to stay open to multiple possibilities. Playing with a paradox mindset allows us to become aware that Spirit is constantly unfolding opportunities for us.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Video: Dr Quantum Double Slit Experiment

Book: Acceptance is My Superpower, by Alicia Ortego

Movement: Yoga Warrior Poses

Music: Perspective (live) – CCV Music (lyrics)

Creative Expression –  Staying in Possibility

Youth describe what being open to possibility means to them and discuss a time when resolution occurred because they chose to accept a different perspective and/or decided to be vulnerable about what they didn’t know. We had fun with paradox and learned to draw a 3D optical illusion picture.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Fun with Vulnerability

Using a special talent, gift, or quality, youth choose from a box of costumes and props and create a short character story show. The last show will be all the youth creating a circumstance where their characters interact together. After the show, everyone picks a different person’s “stroke book” and writes what they appreciate most about their character.
