Curriculum Overview:
This year’s youth group Christmas service celebration will center around the theme of light, reflecting on how each individual can shine their light in the world. The service will explore how various traditions celebrate light during this season, including Bodhi Day, which marks the Buddha’s enlightenment; Yule, celebrating the return of light after the winter solstice; Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World; and both Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, which feature the lighting of candles as symbols of hope and unity. The season of Advent, marked by the lighting of candles in preparation for Christ’s birth, will also be acknowledged as a time of spiritual waiting and anticipation. Through music, art, and reflections, the youth will share how they shine their light in their everyday lives—whether through acts of kindness, creativity, or faith—reminding everyone that no matter how dark the world may seem, the light of hope, love, and renewal always follows.
December Monthly Theme: Sticking the Landing

Creative Expression:
Youth participate in the Celebration of Light during this special service by sharing their individual expression of how they demonstrate their light in the world. Youth are invited to share their creative gifts—music, poetry, dance, or art—reflecting the theme “Shining Your Light in the Darkness.”
