Announcements:

With CSL Summer Teen Camp just one week away, Youth & Family would like to give a special thank you to those who have supported our teens and advisors with your generous donations.

Our next Teen and Young Adult Life-Skills Workshop on July 28th will be Outdoor survival skills! If you know anyone 13-23 who would like to join us for this fun and empowering workshop, connect them with us!

Curriculum Overview:

Youth will explore the liberating idea that embracing imperfections can lead to personal and spiritual growth through engaging stories, creative activities, and lively discussions. They will discover the power of self-acceptance and the joy of authentic expression in a supportive and fun environment.

July Monthly Theme: Practice Makes Imperfect
Week 1 Value: What if Perfection isn’t the Goal?
Affirmation: I embrace the beauty of my divine imperfections.

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth will engage in creative activities such as imperfection art and role-playing scenarios, allowing them to explore the concept of embracing imperfections. They will also participate in lively discussions and reflect on personal experiences of overcoming perfectionism.

Movement: – “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper (5 minutes):

Youth sing and groove to “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, a song that reminds us to embrace our authentic selves and celebrate our true colors.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: the adapted story about Emily and Maya

Music: “Perfect” by Pink (highlighting the message of self-acceptance)

Creative Expression: Imperfection Art

Youth create art that represents their imperfections and discuss how these imperfections make their art unique and beautiful. We practice partner drawing to further add perspective and beauty.

Connecting: Reflection and Sharing

Youth role-play experiences and discuss how letting go of perfectionism can lead to more positive outcomes. They share one thing they learned about imperfection and how they might apply it in their own lives, and then sing songs that celebrate our uniqueness.
