Week 3 Value: Ode to Joy

Affirmation: I am one with the circle of life.

Spiritual Lesson: Ode to Joy

Youth explore cultivating the light through the silence of the holiday spirit and look at how children and adults around the world celebrate the return of light together. We explore how being in community celebrating everyday life brings us joy.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

We watch videos and read a book that helps us explore how different cultures celebrate the return of light, and recall that the feeling of being with family and community is what brings true joy.

Creative Expression –  Creating Community

Considering what makes up a whole complete community, youth draw a picture of an event they wish to create at CSL where all ages are getting to know one another and having fun together.

Connecting:  People Weaving

We participate in the spiritual practice of Mirroring. Using different colors of yarn, we take turns rolling the yarn to our friends as we name things we enjoy doing and things we like until we create a beautiful connected web design of oneness.
