Youth Curriculum, 12-17-23

Announcements:

Families, meet up with our youth group this evening at 5 pm for Olylights. Prepare for a beautiful walk through the lights with amazing photo opportunities, and enjoy warm drinks and baked goodies. See your email for details or connect with Adrienne in our youth department.

This is a great time to donate any gently worn winter clothing your kids and their adults are growing out of. Bring any items you would like to gift to CSL, and we will make sure it arrives to those in need.

Curriculum Overview

Youth are empowered to cultivate a sense of wholeness within themselves and take intentional actions to contribute to the well-being of the world. We share our visions for a better world and continue working on our Ideal World art project.

2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
December Monthly Theme: Living as Wholeness
Week 3 Value: In the Name of Wholeness; Enriching the World

Message: We are like midwives charged with holding the world in the light of peace, prosperity, perfect right action, and wholeness. Even as youths, we can contribute to the well-being of the world in many ways. One is simply being ourselves and being brave enough to share our light within.

Spiritual Practice: We start with a guided meditation, “Birthing Wholeness Within,” to connect with the vision of love and wholeness within themselves, encouraging them to visualize and feel a deep connection to the energy of unity.

Active Listening: We read the story about astronaut Rusty Schweickart’s experience circling the globe, watch a video, “Earth from Space,” and then discuss the transformative experience of astronauts viewing Earth from space and how it symbolizes a birth of consciousness. This can serve to remind us of our interconnectedness and the need to care for our planet.

Activity: Youth write down “Wholeness Affirmations” that reflect a sense of personal wholeness and are invited to share within our group and then discuss how they can take actions that contribute to the well-being of the world, embracing tangible acts of love, compassion, and service. We join in saying, “I am Whole, we are Whole.”

Connecting: Youth write down one action they commit to taking along with affirmations that reflect a sense of personal wholeness, and then continue working on their Ideal World art project.
