Youth Curriculum, 3-23-25

Curriculum Overview:

Planting My Intentions, aligns with the energy of the spring equinox and the Science of Mind Creative Process to help children understand how their thoughts shape their experiences. Through reflection, physical activity, and creative expression, children will explore setting positive intentions, practicing patience, and cultivating gratitude as they metaphorically and physically plant the seeds of their desires.

March Monthly Theme: Living in the Flow
Week 4 Value: Planting My Intentions
Affirmation: “I plant my dreams with love, and I trust they will grow.”

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth will engage in a reflective exercise where they write or speak their intentions and plant real seeds as a symbol of nurturing their goals. Through movement-based activities and discussions, they will explore how patience, care, and gratitude help both plants and personal intentions grow.

Mindfulness: “Breathing with the Seed”

Youth will hold a small seed in their hand, taking deep breaths as they imagine filling it with love and energy before visualizing it growing roots into the earth. This guided breathing exercise helps them connect with the Creative Process, cultivating patience, presence, and intention-setting.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book: The Garden of Happiness by Erika Tamar (Story about planting hope and patience).
  • Music: Good Job – Alicia Keys (Encourages appreciation and positive intentions).
  • Book:  The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle (A gentle story about patience and growth).
  • Music: Best Day of My Life – American Authors (Uplifting and inspiring) (younger class)

Creative Expression: Intention Planting

Youth will write their personal intentions on biodegradable paper and plant them alongside real seeds, symbolizing the connection between their thoughts and future growth. This activity encourages mindfulness, patience, and faith in the Creative Process as they nurture both their intentions and their seeds.

Connecting: Growing Intentions Relay

In a team-based relay, children will “grow” their intentions by running to water their imaginary plants, reinforcing the idea that consistent effort and care help intentions flourish. This fun and active game encourages teamwork, perseverance, and trust in the process of growth.
