Youth Curriculum, 12-11-22

Announcements:

Youth and Family Program invites our CSL Olympia families to enjoy Lightstravaganza together Sunday, December 18th from 6-7pm! The Olympia Fire Department will be there with their fire engine, Voyager Espresso will offer warm drinks and snacks, and The Cookie Shack will have free cookies and cider for the kids. Look for meet up details in your inbox from our youth director, Adrienne.  

Curriculum Overview

Youth practice seeing Spirit in everyone they meet by recognizing the Christ Consciousness within. We play a greeting game and step out of our comfort zone to engage in meaningful conversation.  

December Monthly Theme:  Living Everyday Wonder – Community

Week 2 Value: Into We See  

Affirmation: I see Spirit in everyone I meet.

Spiritual Lesson: Into We See  

Youth practice seeing Spirit in everyone they meet by recognizing the Christ Consciousness within and discuss experiences they’ve had meeting someone that was “different” from them. We brainstorm ideas of how we can help and continue to be an inclusive community.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Story: We read a short story about how a young girl’s friendship helped her mother create a connection that challenged her comfort zone in a rewarding way.

Video: Ruby the Treasure – a girl with Stromme syndrome who wishes people who meet her takes a moment to say “hi.”

Video: Titus – a boy with a rare disease has a beautiful life

Creative Expression –  Discovery Bio’s

With a partner, we learn what we can about them and create a descriptive bio with pictures about our friends and take turns introducing them to the class and including one thing we have in common.

Connecting:  People Weaving

We participate in the spiritual practice of Mirroring. Using different colors of yarn, we take turns rolling the yarn to our friends as we name things we enjoy doing and things we like until we create a beautiful connected web design of oneness.
