Calling All Youth Musicians!

Youth & Family is gearing up for our Christmas celebrations and invites young talents of all ages to share their musical gifts. If you play an instrument, sing, or have a musical talent you’d love to showcase, let Adrienne know! Join us in creating a joyful and festive music experience this Christmas season.

Curriculum Overview:

This week’s lesson, Power to Create a World That Works for Everyone, empowers children to explore their ability to bring about fairness, kindness, and unity in their communities. Through reflection, role-play, and engaging activities, students will discover how collective action and individual choices can make the world a better place for all.

November Monthly Theme: Power to the People
Week 4 Value: Power to Create a World That Works for Everyone
Affirmation: As I stand in my authentic Power, I welcome a World that Works for Everyone.

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth listen to a TED Talk about what adults can learn from kids from a 12-year-old who speaks about the value of big dreams, creativity, and open-mindedness.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: “Be Kind” by Pat Zietlow Miller

Book: “The Art of Power” by Thich Nhat Hanh (selected passages)

Music: “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers

Music: “One Love” by Bob Marley

Creative Expression: “Power of the People” Role-Play

Youth participate in Personal Power role-play. They are given scenario cards with situations that call for using personal power in positive ways. In pairs, they role-play how they would use their power to create fairness and kindness in that situation. We will share how the youth used their personal power to make a difference and how that makes a world that works for everyone.

Connecting: “Power Together Quilt” – putting it together

Each child will decorate a square of paper with something they bring to a team or something they are good at. The squares will be taped together to make a large quilt that represents their collective strengths. Today we put our Power Quilt together for our community sharing.
