Announcements: 

Join us on Sunday, August 11, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM for our Youth & Family Parent Workshop: “Growing Together: Nurturing Spiritual Growth in Children and Families.” This interactive session will guide parents on how to deepen family connections, empower parents with strategies to nurture their child’s spiritual development, cultivate a spiritual home environment, and create a supportive family community while integrating Science of Mind principles into daily life. Snacks and childcare will be provided. Come ready to learn from each other, share resources, and build a supportive network of like-minded families!

Curriculum Overview:

Youth will explore the importance of being their true selves by reading inspiring stories, creating self-portraits, and engaging in role-playing scenarios that promote authenticity and self-compassion. They will take away practical tools for self-awareness, kindness towards themselves, and the courage to express their unique identities confidently in their daily lives.

Affirmation: I embrace imperfection and accept all of myself.

Spiritual Lesson: 

Youth will delve into the importance of being their true selves by reading stories, creating self-portraits, and participating in role-playing scenarios. They will learn to embrace their uniqueness, practice self-compassion, and build the courage to be authentic through guided journaling and group discussions.

Spiritual Practice: – Self-Compassion Meditation

Youth participate in a gratitude and self-compassion guided meditation and discuss how compassion towards oneself can help in being authentic.

Creative Expression: Self-Portrait Art   

Youth create a Self-Portrait that is filled in with pictures and words that tell a story of what makes them unique. On the back of the portrait, they describe times when they feel most like expressing their true selves.  

Connecting: Authentic Role-Play

Youth think of times when they feel most like themselves and then choose from a set of scenario cards with different situations where they might need to be authentic or stand up for themselves. In pairs, youth perform their scenario after taking time to collaborate with their partner.
