Youth Curriculum, 3-30-25

Curriculum Overview:

In this lesson, youth will explore how to flourish amid life’s changes by finding comfort in discomfort, staying true to themselves, and remaining open to growth. They will walk away with a deeper understanding of how flexibility, trust, and inner strength help them navigate change with peace and confidence.

March Monthly Theme: Living in the Flow
Week 5 Value: Blossoming in the Sway
Affirmation: “Today I surrender to the Presence of God within me, as me.”

Spiritual Lesson:

Through mindfulness, creative expression, and movement, children experienced how embracing change can feel safe and even joyful. They leave with tools to stay grounded in who they are while flowing with life’s natural shifts.

Mindfulness: Breathing with the Seed

Children are guided through a visualization of floating down a gentle river, noticing how resisting the current creates struggle while surrendering brings peace. This practice helps them trust life’s flow and recognize the presence of divine support in times of change.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book: The Circles All Around Us by Brad Montague
  • Music: “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars
  • Book:  The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld (younger class)
  • Music: “Let It Go” – Disney’s Frozen (younger class)

Creative Expression: My Inner Compass

Each child creates a personal compass illustrating strengths, fears they’ve faced, new things they want to learn, and what helps them feel peaceful in change. This reflection helps them see how their inner qualities guide them through life’s shifts.

Connecting: Wind and Willow

Growing Intentions Relay In pairs, one child plays the “wind,” gently swaying the other who acts as a “tree,” then they switch roles. This embodied experience teaches flexibility and trust, showing that being adaptable does not mean losing stability.
