Youth Curriculum, 1-21-24

Announcements:

Our teen advisor, Ocean, has returned from CSL 2024 Winter Teen Camp with a heart full of inspiration and a desire to share the magic with teens and their parents. We encourage our community to invite all teens ages 13-18 and their parents to any Sunday Service to experience and learn more about CSL’s Teen Groups, our CSL Olympia Teen Life-Skills Workshops held on the fourth Saturday each month from 1-3 pm, and to learn more about CSL winter and summer Teen Camps. Together, let’s create a space where teens feel seen, heard, and loved as they explore the boundless possibilities of their spiritual path.

Curriculum Overview

Youth discover the power of intention and faith in shaping their lives. They reflect on instances where patience led to positive outcomes. We create art that symbolizes growth over time and complete our vision boards.

2024 Theme: A Grand Rising
January Monthly Theme: A Grand Rising
Week 3 Value: It’s a New Life

Spiritual Lesson: Patience for a New Life

Youth reflect on the successes of past goals and visions, discussing how different thoughts and ideas come into reality based on the attention and patience we give each of them. Today, we focus on honoring the perfect divine timing of our dreams.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero (kid-friendly adaptation) – older youth

Book: The Force Awakens (Star Wars Little Golden Book) – younger youth

Music: A Million Dreams – The Greatest Showman – One Voice Children’s Choir

Music: Grow As We Go – Cover by One Voice Children’s Choir

Creative Expression: Patience is a Virtue

Youth create positive “Wishing Stars,” reflect on instances where patience led to positive outcomes, and create “Patience Flowers.” We share the story of Luke Skywalker about a hero’s journey of strength of Spirit. Youth decide on one vision for a better world from our vision boards and create daily action steps to follow up on the following week.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Gotta Have Faith

Youth participate in a trust-building game to reinforce the importance of faith.
