Youth Curriculum, 1-28-24

Announcements:

We have moved our Life-Skills for Teens workshops to the fourth Sunday’s 5 pm – 7 pm beginning in February for ages 13-18. Our first workshop will be an introduction to our INSPIRE Life-Skills for Teens Workshop series hosted by Ocean and Adrienne. We will have fun attempting various skills in a game of You Got Skills. The cost is $20/class, payable on the CSL donation page under youth & family. Scholarships available. Snacks provided.

Curriculum Overview

We understand the importance of positive vibrations to help our dreams come to life! Youth start the day with an upbeat “feeling good dance” before sharing their positive affirmation. Using role-play, we act out scenarios that embrace diversity and expression of love for all. We end our month by sharing our vision boards with our community.

2024 Theme: A Grand Rising
January Monthly Theme: A Grand Rising
Week 4 Value: Feeling Good

Spiritual Lesson: A World That Works for Everyone

Youth are encouraged to actively embrace diversity in their daily lives and communities. We discuss how the internet has increased our global connection with others and can be an opportunity for us to contribute to a collective Grand Rising with love as its focus.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero (kid-friendly adaptation) – older youth

Book: The Force Awakens (Star Wars Little Golden Book) – younger youth

Music: A Million Dreams – The Greatest Showman – One Voice Children’s Choir

Music: Grow As We Go – Cover by One Voice Children’s Choir

Music: Can’t Stop the Feeling, Justin Timberlake

Creative Expression: Global Connection

Youth discuss how they learn and connect with others across the globe and discover what positive impacts they can have just by sharing their heart and intentions for A World That Works for Everyone. We put the final touches on our vision boards we’ve designed all month and add one more thing that describes how they can help contribute love and peace to our global family.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Sharing Our Vision

Youth pick a few features on their vision board and describe what it means to them to share with their community during circle-up.
