Advent Week Two:  Love

The second week of Advent focuses on love. We are immersed in Infinite Love. This is the nature of the Divine. Since it is the nature of the Divine, it is also our nature. As Emily Cady wrote, “God is not a being who is loving, God is Love itself.” As the candlelight of the Advent wreath grows, we move from Hope to Love. The light begins to dissipate the darkness. Our places of unlovingness begin to melt away in the light of Infinite Love.

We have all forgotten how to truly love at times. So much of our conditioning teaches us safety, protection, holding back. But Love knows no borders or boundaries. It can be held back for a while, but it is always seeking expression. And love slowly transforms us into God – which, behind our forgetting, we truly are.

As we open to hope, love begins to grow within our consciousness. Hope opens and expands us, and it is love that then shows up. This week, practice expanding being both an inlet and an outlet for Love. It is not work, it is opening to the Truth of who you really are, Infinite Love in form.

“One who has found this way of love, seeks no other. One who turns on this pivot is like a prisoner in that their foot and hand and eyes and mouth and heart, and all human faculties, belong to God. Therefore, there is no better way to overcome our human resistance than by love. Happy is the one who is thus imprisoned; the more you are a prisoner, the more you are freed.”
~ Meister Eckhart
