Youth Curriculum, 1-5-25

Curriculum Overview:

Youth will explore how love, creativity, and wisdom are inherent within them and create a “Radiant Reflection” craft, designing a visual representation of their inner light to symbolize how their divine qualities can positively impact the world around them.

January Monthly Theme: Stretching into Possibility
Week 1 Value:  God’s Nature Is Our Nature
Affirmation: “I am a radiant reflection of Divine love and wisdom.”

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth will explore how the divine qualities of love, creativity, and wisdom are already a part of who they are and learn how their thoughts and beliefs shape their experiences. They will walk away with a deeper understanding of their unique value and be empowered to use their creativity and kindness to make a positive impact in their world.

Mindfulness: Grounding Exercise

Youth will be led through deep breathing exercises to connect them to the present moment. They will repeat the affirmation while listening to “Om Mani Padme Hum.”

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: “You Are Special” by Max Lucado

Music: “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong

Book:  “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds  (younger class)

Music: “This Little Light of Mine”  (younger class)

Creative Expression: Active Exploration: The Power of Thought

Youth will close their eyes and imagine holding a warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie, focusing on how it makes them feel. This activity helps them understand that their thoughts have the power to influence their feelings and experiences, just like imagining something positive can bring joy.

Connecting: Co-Creation Collage

Youth will create a collage using magazines, scissors, and glue to represent the things they want to bring into their lives, such as friendship, fun, or learning. This creative process helps them visualize their intentions and reinforces the idea that their thoughts and imagination can shape their experiences.
