Youth Curriculum, 12-15-24
Announcements:
Shine Your Light at Our Christmas Celebration! Join us next Sunday, December 22nd, for a special service celebrating the light within us all. Youth are invited to share their creative gifts—music, poetry, dance, or art—reflecting the theme “Shining Your Light in the Darkness.” To participate, contact Adrienne. After service, we’ll have a joy-filled gift-giving and story time for all youth!
Curriculum Overview:
This lesson explores the fluid nature of reality and how shifting our consciousness can reshape the “solid facts” of life into greater alignment with Divine Good. Students will learn that by envisioning new possibilities and embodying spiritual principles, they can co-create transformative change in their personal lives and the world.
December Monthly Theme: Sticking the Landing
Week 3 Value: Flowing Ground
Affirmation: “I swim in the flow of Consciousness, sowing Good wherever I go.”
Spiritual Lesson:
Through engaging activities, discussion, and spiritual tools, this curriculum invites youth to reflect on life’s malleability and the power of their thoughts to influence change. Focusing on creative visioning and alignment with Truth Principles, participants will cultivate awareness of their ability to direct the flow of life toward Good.
Opening: Ground is Lava!
In this playful activity, youth will navigate a “changing ground” using mats and props, imagining themselves as co-creators designing their path. Through teamwork and creativity, they’ll learn to adapt and flow with shifting situations, just like the fluidity of Spirit in their lives.
Mindfulness: Flowing into Good
Youth are guided through a meditation practice to envision a Good they want to see in their lives or the world and imagine how Spirit might guide them toward that vision.
Active Listening: Book/Music/Video
Book: Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah by Richard Bach, emphasizes Donald Shimoda’s perspective on fluidity.
Music: “Brave” by Sara Bareilles
Creative Expression: Rewriting Reality
Youth participants will identify a situation in their lives or the world that feels “stuck” or unchangeable and rewrite it as if the desired Good has already happened. Through creative writing or drawing, they will practice shifting their perspective to see the fluid possibilities Spirit offers for positive transformation.
Connecting: Storytime & Reflective Practice
Youth will hear an inspiring excerpt from Illusions that illustrates the power of perception to transform “solid” situations. Through reflection and discussion, they will explore how shifting their mindset can open new possibilities, imagining how they might rewrite a challenging part of their own lives.
