Youth Curriculum, 7-6-25

Announcements: Puget Sound CSL Teen Hang-Out
Teens—mark your calendars! Sunday, July 13th, we’ll be attending Teen Class at Seattle CSL and then heading out for burgers together to connect with other local teens going to camp. CSL teens from Tacoma and Bellingham are also invited. It’ll be a great way to get to know one another before heading to camp!

Curriculum Overview:

This week, CSL Youth dive into the sacred waters of self-discovery, inspired by the playful wisdom of river dolphins. Through movement, storytelling, and spiritual reflection, we remember the truth of who we are — divine, intuitive, and free. We’ll explore ancestral strength, release old stories, and craft flowing affirmation “Truth Streamers” that help us live from the deep wisdom within.

July Monthly Theme: Deep Waters, Deeper Wisdom: Embodying Spiritual Intelligence and Authentic Boundaries

Week 1 Value:  Remember with the River Dolphins

Affirmation: “I am a radiant current of truth, flowing with wisdom, joy, and Spirit.”

Spiritual Lesson:

This week, youth are invited to remember who they are beneath the surface of roles, labels, and expectations. Like river dolphins — deeply intelligent, intuitive, and joyful — we dive into the wisdom of our inner voice and the stories that have shaped us. Through community, we practice shedding what no longer serves us and affirm the truth of our divine identity.

Mindfulness: “Flowing from Within”

Youth are guided in a still water meditation, imagining themselves floating down a warm, gentle river. With each breath, they connect to the “still small voice” inside — a place of calm, clarity, and truth.

Focus: “My inner voice is wise, loving, and always guiding me.”

Repeat affirmation: “I trust the flow of my truth.”

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book:  Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals (select stories adapted for youth reflection)
  • Music “River” by Leon Bridges
  • Book: Whoever You Are by Mem Fox (younger class)
  • Music: “All the Way Underwater” by Charity and the JAMband (younger class)

Creative Expression: “Truth Streamers”

Youth reflect on a truth they want to live more fully — an identity, boundary, or belief that helps them feel strong and free. They write affirming phrases onto strips of fabric, which are tied together into flowing “Truth Streamers” that dance in the wind as reminders of their divine wisdom.

Lessons in Action: “Shedding & Shining” Movement Ritual

Using scarves, youth move through a gentle ritual of “shedding” stories that have held them back, then dance freely with their “Truth Streamers.” We affirm that like dolphins, we are most alive when we play, connect, and stay true to who we are beneath the waves.

Connecting: “Ripples of Truth” Circle

In closing, youth gather in a circle and share one truth or intention they want to ripple into the world this week. As each speaks, others gently wave their streamers in support. We end with the chant:

“We are the river. We are the truth. We flow from Spirit and remember our roots.”
