CSL Olympia Teens

Our CSL Olympia teens have departed for Teen Camp this week, embarking on a powerful journey to open their hearts and minds to their deepest truth. We are so grateful to every supporter and especially to the loving parents who trusted that this experience would nurture the greatness already alive within their child.

Curriculum Overview – Week 3
This week, CSL Youth wades into the empowering waters of spiritual self-respect with the theme Honor Your Boundaries. Through mindfulness, movement, and creative play, youth explore how to listen to their inner guidance, discern what supports their well-being, and lovingly express their “yes” and “no” with confidence and care.

July Monthly Theme: Deep Waters, Deeper Wisdom: Embodying Spiritual Intelligence and Authentic Boundaries
Week 3 Value: Know — Honor Your Boundaries
Affirmation: “I honor my truth and protect my peace.”

Spiritual Lesson:
Drawing on the wisdom of spiritual practice and body awareness, youth are invited to tune into how truth feels in their bodies. Inspired by the idea that healthy boundaries help us thrive, they reflect on how Spirit guides us not only through inspiration but also through clear internal signals. We practice speaking from love, using kind clarity to stay aligned with our highest self.

Mindfulness: “Yes/No Body Compass”
Youth engage in a body-based meditation where they quietly notice the physical sensations of a heartfelt “yes” and a grounded “no.” This embodied exercise helps them build trust in their inner compass.

Focus: “I listen to my truth and respond with love.”
Repeat affirmation: “I honor my truth and protect my peace.”

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book (older youth): Brené Brown: You Are Your Best Thing (selected stories adapted for age 12+) — focused on vulnerability, truth, and boundaries
  • Music (older youth): “good 4 u” by Olivia Rodrigo – a powerful anthem of emotional clarity and boundary-setting
  • Book (younger class): Turtle and Tortoise Are Not Friends by Mike Reiss
  • Music (younger class): “Safe and Sound” by Rachel Rambach

Creative Expression: “Energy Shields”
Youth create symbolic shields representing what nourishes and protects their energy. Using colors, textures, words, and images, each shield becomes a visual reminder of how they stay grounded and whole in any situation.

Lessons in Action: “Yes & No Roleplay”
In pairs and small groups, youth practice saying “yes” and “no” in playful real-life scenarios. They explore how to be clear and kind, even when their boundaries are challenged, and celebrate each other’s courage to stand in truth.

Connecting: “Truth Circle” Reflection
In the closing circle, youth share what it feels like to honor their truth, and how their “Energy Shield” will help them make empowered choices. Together, we affirm:
“I honor my truth and protect my peace.”
