Youth Curriculum, 2-19-23

Curriculum Overview

Using the image of a river, youth explore the idea of many paths leading to one – one truth – one mind. Youth play a game where an outcome depends on their action and whether resisting the “river” or swimming with the “river” determines if they reach their goal.

2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
February Monthly Theme:  Curiosity As a Superpower
Week 3 Value: The World is My Oyster

Affirmation: Our connection to God is our connection to one another!

Spiritual Lesson: The World is My Oyster – Connections

Every religion and spiritual path is in some way connected to that Single River. Every person is connected to The River and so everyone must also be connected to every wellspring. Our connection to God is our connection to one another! We cannot practice love in isolation or a vacuum.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Youth listen to a Podcast – Going With The Flow that talks about mindfulness with a focus on going with the flow.

We listen to different versions of The Golden Rule in poems and music.

The younger class reads Do Unto Otters: A Book About Manners

Creative Expression –  Flowing With The River

Using the image of a river, youth explore the idea of many paths leading to one – one truth – one mind. Youth play a game where an outcome depends on their action and whether resisting the “river” or swimming with the “river” determines if they reach their goal. Finally, they take home a pearl that they worked through a fear to find as a reminder of the gifts to be found within challenges.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: You Are – I am

Our youth classes start a stroke book where at any break time, youth can write something kind to another student as a way to demonstrate kindness and our connection to one another.
