Youth Curriculum, 2-18-24

Announcements:

Our INSPIRE Life-Skills Workshop for Teens is open to our greater community, ages 13-18. Reach out to people you know out in your community and invite them to check out our youth & family page on our cslolympia.org website for more information and to register for the teen life-skills workshops that begin February 25th, 5-7 pm

If you would love to be a guest presenter and share a skill like budgeting, cooking, or interviewing at one of our INSPIRE Life-Skills Workshop for Teens, please connect with our youth director, Adrienne.

Curriculum Overview:

Youth discuss the importance of reflecting on personal experiences of pain and the vision of a better future. We use our physical and mental strength to help overcome challenges in a fun relay race and learn that taking small steps toward larger aspirations can make even the most significant goals seem possible.

2024 Theme: A Grand Rising
February Monthly Theme: Divine Discomfort
Week  Value: Pain Pushes Until Vision Pulls

Spiritual Lesson: Journey Through Pain

Youth discuss the importance of reflecting on personal experiences of pain and the vision of a better future, which can enhance understanding and resilience. Physical and mental strength can help overcome challenges, and taking small steps toward larger aspirations can make even the most significant goals seem possible.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires

Video: Kids Talking About Getting Out of Their Comfort Zone

Video: Comfort, Stretch, Panic Zones How do we grow – Daniel Musselman (for teens)

Creative Expression: Vision Board Reflections

We encourage everyone to finish their vision board for the new year and, for those that finished, to reflect on ideas on their vision boards. They will write down some of the challenges they will need to overcome in order for their visions to become part of their reality and name one or two things they can do this next week to begin on a path to complete a dream.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Pain and Vision Relay

Youth participate in a relay race where each stage represents overcoming a challenge and ending with reaching a vision goal. Teamwork, encouragement, and resilience will be emphasized to bring forward the idea that we all can look to our friends and family to support our dreams.
