Youth Curriculum, 3-26-23

Announcements:

Youth & Family Ministry has partnered with Wildkind Academy to offer youth, teens, and their parents an outdoor educational day camp on Sunday, April 23rd, 1:30 – 5:30 pm. Join us for a spring plant walk and identify ways to utilize nature’s gifts. Practice mindfulness in the forest using your senses and intuition, learn various outdoor skills, and finish with smores and conversation around the fire. CSL will accept camp registration payments on our website by selecting the youth & family option and look for further details on the youth and family web page and in your email.

Curriculum Overview

Youth get creative and design a Growth Mindset Garden as a reminder to nurture their growth mindset and often revisit to remember their true nature. They have fun dancing and experiencing an inspirational story to remind them that they don’t need to do anything to have love and all of life’s abundance.

2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
March Monthly Theme:  Cultivating Authenticity
Week 4 Value: No Approval Needed

Affirmation: I am worthy. I am loved. I am enough

Spiritual Lesson: No Approval Needed

Our spiritual journey is continuously unfolding. We can be aware of and enjoy surprise treasures that add richness, excitement, and joy to our days. Thoughts that are not aligned with this joy can be changed by claiming our worth.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Music: “Yes!” The Laurie Berkner Band and “Higher Place” by Daniel Nahmod

Books: I am a Lovable Me! Affirmations for Children by Sharon Penchina

Books: Firenze’s Light by Jessica Collaco

Creative Expression –  Saying Yes! To Positive Thoughts and Feelings

Youth create a Growth Mindset Garden where the center of the flower is their name, the leaves are goals, the stem is a personal affirmation, and the flower petals are positive words or God qualities.

Connecting/Spiritual Practice: Magic Screen

Youth draw on a Magic Screen, letting go and seeing what serendipity brings. They let it go (erase) their creation and begin a new thought and a new creation. Youth have fun dancing and experiencing an inspirational story to remind them that they don’t need to do anything to have love and all of life’s abundance.
