Youth Curriculum, 9-7-25

Announcements:
Youth and Family are helping to plan the Harvest Festival on September 27th! As part of the festivities, our youth will be hosting a mini farm stand, and we are inviting donations of local fruits and vegetables a week prior to the event. We are also looking for any connections to local businesses who can donate apple cider or other fall treats. If you or someone you know would like to contribute, please reach out to Adrienne, our Youth Director, with your ideas.

September Monthly Theme: Transcendent Purpose: Living Beyond Limits
Week 1 Value: Worth — What’s the Point, Anyway?
Affirmation: “I am worthy and valuable, simply because I am.”

Curriculum Overview:
This week, youth explore the idea that their worth is not something they earn — it already exists within them. Through story, music, reflection, mandala art, and active play, children and teens alike are invited to experience the truth that life’s purpose is simply to live fully and authentically. By practicing mindfulness and creativity, they celebrate their inherent value and learn to trust that every path, every breath, and every moment is meaningful because they are part of it.

Spiritual Lesson:
Your worth is not tied to doing, but to being. Inspired by A Psalm for the Wild-Built and Science of Mind teaching, youth discover that life’s purpose is simply to live fully and awaken to our divine nature. When we remember that we are already enough, we can choose freely what we want to experience, explore, and create in life.

Mindfulness: “Breathing Into Being”
Youth take deep, gentle breaths while imagining each inhale as filling them with worthiness and each exhale as releasing any thought of “not enough.” With each breath, they affirm their intrinsic value.

Focus: “I am already enough.”
Repeat Affirmation: “I am worthy and valuable, simply because I am.”

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book (older youth): A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers (excerpt)
  • Music (older youth): “Real” by Jason Mraz (feat. Renée Stahl)
  • Book (younger class): Listening with My Heart by Gabi Garcia
  • Music (younger class): “Use Your Words” by Sara Lovell

Creative Expression: “Worthiness Mandalas”
Youth design mandalas using colors, words, and symbols that express their inherent value and the experiences they wish to enjoy. Each mandala becomes a personal reminder: I am already enough.

Lessons in Action: “Just Be” Games

  • Younger youth play Freeze Dance, celebrating the joy of being in many ways (silly, calm, strong, still).
  • Older youth walk a Purpose Path, stepping onto prompts like “Be kind,” “Dream big,” and “Rest,” to explore the value in every step.

Connecting: “Circle of Worth”
Gathered together, youth share one thing they love about being alive right now. We close by affirming together:
“I am worthy and valuable, simply because I am.”
