Youth Curriculum, 10-27-24

Announcements:

CSL Youth and Family’s Annual Corn Maze Event at Hunters Family Farm is set for Sunday, October 27th, from 1:30 to 5:30 —a perfect opportunity for some community family fun! Parents, check your email for all the details. We’re looking forward to seeing you there for an unforgettable day of exploration, connection, and joy!

Curriculum Overview:

Youth will learn about the concept of abundance, that giving from their abundance is an act of sharing from an infinite source. They will experience this through dance, play, and creative self-expression by wearing costumes and exploring the flow of energy and generosity.

October Monthly Theme: A-Bun-Dance
Week 4 Value: Rise Up and Dance
Affirmation: “I am rich in love, kindness, and the beauty around me. My abundance grows when I share it with others.”

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth will learn that true wealth comes from appreciating the abundance already present in their lives—love, kindness, experiences, and the beauty of the world around them. They will understand that abundance isn’t just about having money or things but about recognizing the value of what they already have and sharing it with others.

Spiritual Practice: Send and Receive (month-long practice)

Youth learn the power of their intuition and share their energy connection with others with a spiritual practice where the person visualizing “sends” the image mentally to their partner, who then begins drawing what they “know” is being sent. After a few minutes, they compare the images. Switch roles and repeat. We discuss how this activity demonstrates the abundance of energy and connection that exists between us, even when we don’t see it directly.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: “The Table Where Rich People Sit” by Byrd Baylor

Music: Playlist of upbeat, empowering songs (e.g., “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, “Better When I’m Dancin’” by Meghan Trainor)

Creative Expression: Abundance Art Creation

Youths draw detailed illustrations of something they have an abundance of in their life for which they are grateful. They are invited to give their picture to someone else so they can share their abundance. We will discuss how it felt to give our drawing to someone else and think of one way we can share from our abundance for the next week.

Connecting: Dance Party of Abundance

Youth will embody the idea of abundance through movement and dance to celebrate our infinite abundance. Every time we move, we will think about all the joy, energy, and love we have to share with the world. Youth will be encouraged to move big, take up space, and express their joy and energy in their movements, where every step, jump, and twirl is releasing joy to the world.
