Announcements: 

Our next INSPIRE Life-Skills Workshop for Teens and young adults will be Mastering Communication & Connection. Learn the art of effective communication, honing essential interviewing skills, building strong relationships, and mastering conflict resolution techniques. These workshops are held every 4t Sunday at 5 pm and are now open to teens 13-18 and young adults 18-23! Register at CSLOLYMPIA.ORG under Youth & Family and Life-Skills Workshops. $20 or pay what you can. Snacks are provided, and drop-ins are welcome. For questions, contact Adrienne or Ocean in our youth department.

Curriculum Overview:

Youth focus on personal empowerment, freedom from limitations, and confidence in their potential. By engaging in activities such as creating collages that represent freedom, discussing themes of perseverance and creativity from a story, dancing to empowering music, and reflecting on their experiences, children will learn to recognize their inner strength and embrace boundless possibilities.

June Monthly Theme: Holy Boldness
Week 3 Value: Unbounded & Unstoppable
Affirmation: I am limitless, I am powerful, and I am unstoppable in all that I do.

Spiritual Lesson: 

In this lesson, children will explore the concept of being unbounded and unstoppable through activities that foster personal empowerment, freedom from limitations, and confidence in their potential. They will create expressive collages, discuss empowering stories, dance to uplifting music, and reflect on their inner strength and resilience.

Movement: “Unstoppable Dance Party”

During this exercise, children will dance to upbeat and empowering songs like “Believer” by Imagine Dragons and “Try Everything” by Shakira, allowing them to express themselves freely and confidently. This fun dance session will reinforce the idea of feeling unstoppable and energized by their own inner strength.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: The Thing Lou Couldn’t Do by Ashley Spires. ages 4-7

Book: “The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson

Music: “Never Giving Up” by Fearless Soul

Creative Expression: Freedom Collage

In this exercise, children will create collages using magazines, scissors, glue, and large paper or poster boards to represent their interpretations of freedom and empowerment. After completing their collages, they will share and explain their choices, fostering a sense of being unbounded and unstoppable.

Connecting: Drum Circle Game

Youth will participate in a Kalani Music drum circle game, where they will each have a drum or percussion instrument. They will follow simple rhythm patterns led by the instructor, gradually building up to more complex rhythms while encouraging creativity and collaboration. This activity will help them experience the power of unity and collective energy, reinforcing the idea of being unbounded and unstoppable as they create music together.
