It’s the ultimate all-inclusive experience, promising relaxation, adventure, and cherished memories for the whole family.

My Volunteer Experience at Camp Cedar Ridge
Where can you enjoy the great outdoors and hang out with a nearly blind pet pig named Winston Churchhill? Camp Cedar Ridge! I’ve never met a pig that makes hanging out in the grassy outdoors look so wonderful. It’s time for someone to write a sequel to Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.
While volunteering for a week I got to camp in the staff village without bringing my own camping gear. I just brought my pillows, clothes, bathroom items and my able body ready to try new things. The kitchen staff did all the cooking and made leftovers available in the fridge so there’s always something to nibble on. As long as you don’t mind sharing bathrooms with others, this is a great set up.
I loved being outside all day, every day. I enjoyed walking and singing in the Labyrinth, exploring trails and watching the sunset nightly. Other activities included help hosting a 750 person picnic and returning rented items an hour away. But my most favorite was reviving the very sad daisies near the dining hall. With support from camp staff, I got to weed the daisies for 2 days, water them, add some fresh soil and brighten them up once again. Hopefully this flowerbed will grow, expand and remind us how beautiful, nurturing and prosperous Mother Nature really is.
Thanks,
Christi Johnson
