Youth Curriculum, 3-9-25

Announcements:

Exciting news for our teens! Beginning this month, our Youth and Family program is launching a special teen class at 10 AM every 3rd Sunday before service. Led by our Youth Director, Adrienne, this CSL teen course will explore core principles through discussions, games, introspective work, and engaging activities. Teens will also be introduced to extended CSL lessons and experiences such as Foundations Class, Teen Camp, and ritual studies—don’t miss this opportunity to dive deeper and connect with other teens! Talk with Adrienne about how your teen can participate.

Curriculum Overview:

This week, children will explore “The Still Small Voice,” learning to recognize and trust their intuition through mindfulness and active listening. They will practice quieting external noise through reflective exercises and engaging activities to connect with their inner wisdom.

March Monthly Theme: The Still Small Voice
Week 2 Value:
Affirmation: “I quiet my mind, listen to my heart, and trust the wisdom within me.”

Spiritual Lesson:

Intuition is the voice of inner wisdom that guides us beyond logic to deeper truths. By practicing mindfulness, visioning, and presence, we learn to distinguish between the chattering voice of the ego and the still, small voice of our true self.

Mindfulness: “Inner Voice Journaling”

Through a short, guided meditation, children will quiet their minds and reflect on times when they followed or ignored their intuition. They will then journal or draw their experiences, helping them recognize how their inner voice speaks to them.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book: The Three Questions by Jon J. Muth
  • Music: A Beautiful Noise” by Alicia Keys & Brandi Carlile
  • Book:  Listening with My Heart by Gabi Garcia (younger class)
  • Music: Brave” by Sara Bareilles (younger class)

Creative Expression: Trust Walk

Children will work in pairs, with one partner blindfolded and guided through an obstacle course by the other’s verbal instructions. This fun and engaging activity helps them build trust in listening closely, just like we must trust our intuition in everyday life.

Connecting: Intuition Circle

Youth will sit in a circle and take turns picking a small object from a mystery bag without looking inside. Before revealing the object, they will pause, close their eyes, and try to ‘sense’ what it might be, helping them practice trusting their instincts and inner knowing.
