Youth Curriculum, 2-5-23
Curriculum Overview
Youth use curiosity as their superpower to inspire new perspectives that help polish a real gem they keep as a reminder to practice changing their view so that it is clear and present. We play an “I Am” game to teach the importance of focusing on our strengths and what we want to develop.
2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
February Monthly Theme: Curiosity As a Superpower
Week 1 Value: Beneath the Surface – Self Awareness
Affirmation: I am grateful for the abundance that is already mine to share.
Spiritual Lesson: Self Awareness
We are moved from thinking the Divine to feeling It, experiencing It by way of experiences that transcend any one path, religion, or tradition; one mountain with many paths, one tree with many branches, one river with many wells, all living out loud.
Active Listening: Book/Music/Video
Younger students read the book Confidence is my Superpower by Alicia Ortego and discuss what qualities they have that help them feel confident. They learn that practicing self-awareness reveals a constant and loving spirit to rely upon as we grow and learn.
Older youth read the book Little Squarehead by Peggy O’Neill about a lonely girl who is different from other children. She sees her heart reflected in a magical pool and realizes that is who she really is.
Creative Expression – My Curiosity Superpower
Youth use curiosity as their superpower to inspire new perspectives that help polish a real gem they keep as a reminder to practice changing their view so that it is clear and present.
Connecting/Spiritual Practice:
Youth practice Superman and Wonder Woman Breathing techniques and do some power yoga poses.
We play the “I Am” game, which teaches the importance of focusing on the strengths we currently have or want to develop.
