October Monthly Theme: Growing Deeper Rising Higher – The Ultimate Glow Up!
Week 4 Value: What’s My Wealth
Affirmation: “I express my natural wealth!”

Curriculum Overview

This week, youth explore what “wealth” really means beyond money or possessions. True wealth is our inner light — our love, kindness, peace, creativity, and authenticity. Through story, reflection, music, art, and games, children and teens discover how living in alignment with Spirit makes them truly wealthy. Together, they’ll create Glow Jars filled with affirmations and light, reminding them that their greatest treasure is their own radiant spirit shining through.

Spiritual Lesson

Wealth is not just about what we have — it is about what we express. Our true wealth is our divine light: love, peace, and generosity that naturally flow from Spirit within us. When we listen to the still, small voice, we remember that we are luminous beings and that nothing outside of us can add or take away from this inner glow. Wealth means living in the truth of who we are — Spirit in action, shining brightly in the world.

Mindfulness: “Breathing in Light”

Youth close their eyes, place hands over their heart, and take three deep breaths. On the inhale, they imagine filling their heart with golden light. Exhaling they silently say, “I express my natural wealth.”

Repeat 3–5 times until the group feels calm and centered.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book (older youth): Excerpt from Thank and Grow Rich by Pam Grout (section on being spirit and light)
  • Music (older youth): “Glorious” by Macklemore feat. Skylar Grey (celebrating shining from within)
  • Book (younger class): The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson (celebrating inner light and uniqueness)
  • Music (younger class): “This Little Light of Mine” (modern children’s version, sing-along)

Creative Expression: Glow Jars

Youth decorate jars with paint, markers, or tissue paper. Inside, they place small lights (battery tea lights or fairy lights) and slips of paper with affirmations. Each Glow Jar becomes a reminder of their inner brilliance and spiritual wealth.

Lessons in Action: Shining Wealth Games

Younger Youth: “Treasure of Light Hunt” — Hide golden paper “treasures” around the room. Each treasure has a positive word (love, peace, joy). Kids collect them and share how each word is part of their wealth.

Older Youth: “Light Leaders Challenge” — In small groups, teens are given scenarios (e.g., a friend feels left out, the Earth needs care, a new student feels shy). Their challenge is to brainstorm how to “spend” their spiritual wealth (kindness, creativity, courage) to bring more light to the situation.

Connecting: “Circle of Hope”

Gather youth in a circle holding their Glow Jars. Each share one way they will “spend” their spiritual wealth this week — an act of kindness, peace, or creativity. Together, affirm:

“I express my natural wealth!”
