Youth Curriculum, 1-22-23

Curriculum Overview

Youth learn to think from the inspirational center within, which is nothing less than God in them singing Its song of life. We play a dice game to show how our observation of a situation changes what we see and understand that by living a life with gratitude, all things are made possible.

2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!

January Monthly Theme:  Root & Reboot
Week 4 Value: Singing with Gratitude

Affirmation: I am grateful for the abundance that is already mine to share.

Spiritual Lesson: Gratitude As a Choice

When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. Youth learn how practicing gratitude brings about joy and the benefits of being grateful for the things yet to come. If we appreciate all that we have and don’t fret about what we don’t have, then we won’t feel any dissatisfaction. If we appreciate everyone around us and don’t judge or criticize, then all around us will feel loved and appreciated.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Youth listen to a story: The Miller, the Son and the Donkey (Aesop’s Fables) and discuss how different life can play out simply by choosing our perspectives as we experience life.

Creative Expression –  Dice Game

Youth create dice to remind them that things change depending on how you look at them and how our observations of a situation change what we see.

Connecting:  Human Puzzle/ Living Out Loud Unity Project

Youth and teens finish designing their own “personality” puzzle piece from last week and help put it together to reveal a word that means beauty in unity.

Youth complete their adult interviews in their CSL community, creating bio-cards as a call-to-action unity project to share in next Sunday’s service.
