Youth Curriculum, 3-2-25

Announcements:

Exciting news for our teens! Beginning this month, our Youth and Family program is launching a special teen class at 10 AM every 3rd Sunday before service. Led by our Youth Director, Adrienne, this CSL teen course will explore core principles through discussions, games, introspective work, and engaging activities. Teens will also be introduced to extended CSL lessons and experiences such as Foundations Class, Teen Camp, and ritual studies—don’t miss this opportunity to dive deeper and connect with other teens! Talk with Adrienne about how your teen can participate.

Curriculum Overview:

This week, youth will explore navigating life’s ups and downs with mindfulness and balance. Through reflective practices and engaging physical activities, they will learn to pause, observe their thoughts, and flow with life’s ever-changing tides.

March Monthly Theme: Living in the Flow
Week 1 Value: Navigating the Tides of Life
Affirmation: I am steady and strong, flowing with life’s changes with peace and confidence.

Spiritual Lesson:

Life is full of constant change, but by centering ourselves, we can navigate challenges with grace and ease. This lesson teaches children to pause, observe their thoughts without judgment, and stay grounded in their inner peace, knowing they are always connected to the Divine flow.

Mindfulness: “The Power of the Pause”

Youth will practice mindful breathing and silent observation to recognize their thoughts without judgment. Takeaway: They will learn that pausing and observing their thoughts helps them stay centered and navigate life’s changes with awareness and calmness.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

  • Book: The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy
  • Music: Keep Your Head Up by Andy Gramme
  • Book:  Be Still, Little Tree, Be Still by Shawn Elliott Russell (younger class)
  • Music: What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong) (younger class)

Creative Expression: “Balance the Tide” Game

Through a balancing exercise, children will experience how staying grounded helps them remain steady despite outside influences. Takeaway: They will understand that, like an anchor in the ocean, they can find inner stability even when life feels unsteady.

Connecting: Music & Reflection

Through movement, youth explore how they can gracefully and joyfully keep moving to the music with changing obstacles placed in their path. We discuss how the song relates to navigating life’s changes and how it felt moving with joy past obstacles in their path.
