Youth Curriculum, 12-8-24

Announcements:

Shine Your Light at Our Christmas Celebration! Join us on Sunday, December 22nd, for a special service celebrating the light within us all. Youth are invited to share their creative gifts—music, poetry, dance, or art—reflecting the theme “Shining Your Light in the Darkness.” To participate, contact Adrienne. After service, we’ll have a joy-filled gift-giving and story time for all youth!

Curriculum Overview:

Youth will experience the joy of living with open, courageous hearts, understanding that love is their true power. They will take away the practice of trusting and expressing their inner fire, feeling safe and inspired to co-create a life aligned with Spirit’s infinite potential.

December Monthly Theme: Sticking the Landing
Week 2 Value: Hearts Ablaze
Affirmation: “I let the fire of Infinite Love blaze in my heart!”

Spiritual Lesson:

Youth will learn how to connect with the Divine spark within, recognizing that their hearts are the source of love, joy, and passion that animates their lives. Through stories, discussions, and activities, they will explore how to ignite and sustain the fire of Infinite Love within themselves and share it with the world.

Mindfulness: Heart Fire Visualization

Youth are guided to visualize their heart as a warm fire, defining the color of the fire and how it feels when it grows stronger.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: “Heart Talk” by Cleo Wade

Book: “Whole Brain Living” by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor

Music: “Dear Prudence” by John Lennon

Music: “Rise Up” by Andra Day

Creative Expression: Heart Fire Nature Art

Youth create an art piece representing their heart fire using materials from nature. With their guided meditation practice in mind from earlier, they will write or arrange their materials to represent the colors and feelings they experienced.

Connecting: Community Visioning Practice and Dance

With the question in mind, “How can we, as a group, share our heart fire with our families or community this week? ” We invite youth to move or dance freely, expressing the fire of their hearts through movement. Then, we each share an idea of one thing we will do this week to keep our hearts open and ablaze.
