Spiritual Lesson:

In this lesson, youth will explore the concept of embracing imperfections through engaging stories, creative art projects, and meaningful discussions. This will help them understand the beauty of making mistakes and the growth they can bring. They will gain a more profound sense of self-acceptance, resilience, and the confidence to step out of their comfort zones.

Movement: – Outdoor Flawed Adventure

Youth take a walk outside to look for three things they may see as a flaw and find a way to appreciate it.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Book: “What Do You Do with a Problem?” by Kobi Yamada, ages 4-7

Book: “The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes” by Mark Pett and Gary Rubinstein, ages 7-12

Music: “The Perfect Song” by Barney Saltzberg, ages 4-7

Music: “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara, ages 7-12

Creative Expression: Imperfection Creations

Youth create a collaborative art piece where each child contributes something unique and imperfect. Discuss how each piece adds to the beauty of the whole project.

Connecting: Music Appreciation

Youth take turns creating rhythms with musical instruments. The group repeats the rhythm, and someone else adds to it until everyone adds to our beat and enjoys our unique creation.

We discuss what vulnerability means to us and how connections can be made when we show our imperfections to others.
