Youth Curriculum, 8-31-25

Announcements:

Youth and Family are helping to plan the Harvest Festival on September 27th! As part of the festivities, our youth will be hosting a mini farm stand, and we are inviting donations of local fruits and vegetables to be shared fresh within a week of the event. We are also looking for any connections to local businesses who may be willing to donate apple cider or other fall treats. If you would like to contribute or know of a connection, please reach out to Adrienne, our Youth Director, with your offerings.

Curriculum Overview – Week 5

This week, youth celebrate the culmination of our Love in Motion theme by sharing their projects about compassion, courage, and connection that they’ve been creating throughout the month. Teens will reflect on their recent camp experience, joining with the adults to demonstrate one of their favorite camp activities, showing how love moves powerfully through shared community and practice.

August Monthly Theme: Love in Motion: Cultivating Compassion, Courage & Connection
Week 5 Value: Love in Community
Affirmation: Love in motion grows stronger when we share it together!

Spiritual Lesson:

Love is not just something we practice on our own — it expands when we bring it into community. This week, youth and teens model how their love projects and camp experiences embody compassion, courage, and connection, reminding us all that sharing love strengthens it in ourselves and in others.

Mindfulness: Breathing Through the Storm

Youth and adults will join in a short, guided meditation, visualizing love as ripples spreading outward with each breath. With every inhale, they imagine receiving love; with every exhale, sending it back out into the community and world.

Active Listening: Book/Music/Video

Youth Projects: Collages, art pieces, or writings created throughout August about Love in Motion.

Teen Camp Reflections: Teens share highlights and lessons from camp, relating them to the monthly theme.

Intergenerational Experience: Teens invite adults to join them in a favorite camp activity, creating a living demonstration of Love in Motion.

Creative Expression: Presenting Love in Motion

Youth present their creative projects, telling the story of how love has been in motion throughout the month. Teens lead the community in an interactive camp activity that shows how love builds bridges and strengthens bonds. Lessons in Action: Teen-Led Activity

Teens will choose a favorite activity from teen camp centered around love and guide the entire community in experiencing it together during service. This shared practice embodies Love in Motion, deepening connections across all ages.
