Our next INSPIRE Life-Skills Workshop for Teens and young adults will be Mastering Communication & Connection. Learn the art of effective communication, honing essential interviewing skills, building strong relationships, and mastering conflict resolution techniques. These workshops are held every 4th Sunday at 5 pm and are now open to teens 13-18 and young adults 18-22! Register at CSLOLYMPIA.ORG under Youth & Family and Life-Skills Workshops. $20 or pay what you can. Snacks are provided, and drop-ins are welcome. For questions, contact Adrienne or Ocean in our youth department.
Curriculum Overview:
Youth explore boldness through storytelling, music, art, and working on their inner power. They discuss the role of bravery and courage, which helps them be confident with who they are. Creating wearable art that demonstrates their abilities helps them to embrace their talents and cultivate inner courage.
June Monthly Theme: Holy Boldness
Week 1 Value: Sacred Audacity
Affirmation: I am bold, courageous, and brave.
Spiritual Lesson:
Youth will explore the idea of stepping out of their comfort zones by moving beyond fears and using their imagination and courage. A technique practice of taking action with intention will demonstrate the importance of listening to their inner guidance to achieve their own personal greatness.
Meditation Practice: What’s Next Meditation
Youth go on a journey embracing an adventure that is life, knowing that each step they take brings them closer to their dreams.
Active Listening: Book/Music/Video
Book: For Younger Youth (ages 6-9): Brave Irene by William Steig- We find out how the character showed boldness and what it means to be brave.
Book: For Older Youth (ages 10-12): Ish by Peter H. Reynolds encourages children to embrace their creativity and see their efforts as valuable, even if they are not perfect.

Creative Expression: Boldness Art Expression and Challenge
Younger children craft power capes embodying strengths, then act them out while others guess the qualities being expressed. Older children tackle playful challenges, pushing comfort zones to discover bravery and embrace new experiences, fostering confidence and resilience in a supportive environment.
Connecting: Collaborative Storytelling
Youth receive a starting sentence or theme for a story related to Holy Boldness. Each pair takes turns adding a sentence or paragraph to the story, building upon the ideas of their peers. After a set amount of time, each group can share their collaborative story with the rest of the class, fostering creativity, teamwork, and imagination.
