Youth Curriculum, 12-3-23
Announcements:
In order to accommodate a growing number of youth and teens, we are moving our Sunday in-person teen program to 12:30 – 1:30pm starting the first week of January. This program is open to all teens 13-18 and will include a deeper dive into CSL principles and offer discussions, exercises and practices designed to positively impact the lives of our teens. Please invite any teens you know to an introductory class. Drop-ins are welcome. Any teens here during the regular service hour can participate in our older youth class with our teen advisor Ocean or join the adult service. Please see our teen advisor Ocean for any questions. .
Curriculum Overview
December’s curriculum aims to help youth connect with the spark of pure life within and embrace a life of wholeness through conscious living and spiritual practices. Today, we will know that we were created in the full expression of life and power. We recognize our divine birthright always comes from Love, Peace, and Oneness.
2023 Theme: Living Out Loud!
December Monthly Theme: Living as Wholeness
Week 1 Value: Touching the Earth – Embracing Wholeness
Message: December’s curriculum aims to help youth connect with the spark of pure life within and embrace a life of wholeness through conscious living and spiritual practices. Today, we will know that we were created in the full expression of life and power. We recognize our divine birthright always comes from Love, Peace, and Oneness.
Spiritual Practice: Remembering our everyday mindfulness practices from last month, we will choose a favorite meditation to practice and discuss the connection between mindfulness and cultivating oneness. Everyone will share their personal prayer or meditation practices and say how it contributes to their sense of wholeness.
Active Listening: Youth explore the idea that we were created in the full expression of life and power. They discuss how recognizing our divine birthright can shape our perception of ourselves and the world. Youth share what wholeness means to them and how they envision living a life aligned with their birthright.
Activity: Youth create a visual representation of consciousness as a web, where each strand represents different aspects of our thoughts and beliefs. They discuss how these strands contribute to our overall spiritual consciousness. Youth are encouraged to think about a creative collaborative art project for the month that helps to demonstrate their vision of a life filled with wholeness.
Connecting: Youth play a connecting game where they find commonalities they have with one another, then after picking out their own background music, they make up a dance that helps to describe or tell a story of what they all have in common.
