Curriculum Overview
Youth consider the gifts they already are and that they can share in their own communities while searching out the gifts being offered by others unknown to them. By recognizing the light within and in each other, we become the light that lights the world.

Week 3 Value: Nativity 2.0
Affirmation: I am grateful for the gifts that are mine to share.
Spiritual Lesson: Nativity 2.0
Youth consider the gifts they can share in their own communities and search out the gifts being offered by others that may be unknown to them. We look at another aspect of the nativity and how it can be seen as a demonstration of inclusivity where in community, the light of life is present for all of us.
Active Listening: Book/Music/Video
We watched a video about the interconnected community of trees based on the work of Forestry Professor Suzanne Simard.
Creative Expression – Creating Community
Youth practice recognizing the light in another person by reaffirming what qualities their friends acknowledge in themselves. We learn that by seeing the light in each other, we are transmitting light to light up the world.
Connecting: Community Tree
Youth collaborate on creating a Community Tree. “God Quality ID Cards” are placed on the tree, referencing people in our CSL community and what their interests and talents are as a way to connect people together to share their gifts.
